Atelier Loom began in 1994 with six weavers and a single warp frame. Today we work with ateliers across Iran, Turkey, Morocco and India — and still sign every rug by hand.
Our craft
Slow work, made properly
A 9 × 12 ft hand-knotted rug takes four weavers nine months. We do not rush it, and we do not thin the wool to hit a price point.
Every fleece is hand-spun before dyeing, which is why our fields have that subtle abrash — the gentle tonal shift that machine-spun yarn can never produce. Dyes are madder, indigo, walnut husk and pomegranate rind, fixed in copper vats.
Before any commission enters production we send a strike-off: a small woven sample in your exact colours and pile height, so nothing is left to imagination.
